  1. General Goal:

As the Department of Occupational Therapy, our primary goal is to educate professionals who have gained awareness and competence in evaluating occupational therapy-related problems and generating effective solutions through direct, hands-on experience with individuals in need of occupational therapy services. Led by experienced supervisors, our graduates are expected to effectively apply their knowledge and skills in professional practice; adhere strictly to ethical principles throughout their careers; demonstrate strong communication skills; adopt a research-oriented and solution-focused mindset; generate innovative ideas; and continuously follow scientific advancements in the field.

  1. Strategic Objectives of the Department

These objectives represent measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals aligned with the department’s overarching mission.

2.1. Objectives in the Field of Education and Training

  • Competent Graduates:

To ensure that students acquire the highest level of evaluation, planning, and intervention skills required in professional practice, and to achieve a target success rate of ___% in professional competency examinations within the first year after graduation.

  • Stakeholder Satisfaction:

To maintain or improve the competency level reported in employer satisfaction surveys of institutions employing our graduates, ensuring a minimum annual satisfaction rate of ___%.

  • Continuous Improvement:

To revise and update the curriculum at least every two years (or within the predetermined cycle), based on current scientific knowledge, field needs, and stakeholder feedback.

2.2. Objectives in the Field of Research and Academic Development

  • Scientific Productivity:

To increase the number of national/international peer-reviewed publications and/or research projects per faculty member by at least 50% compared to the previous year.

  • Project Capacity:

To double the number of research projects supported by national (e.g., TÜBİTAK, Development Agencies) and international (e.g., Horizon Europe) funding sources within the next five years.

  • Collaboration:

To establish joint research and mobility agreements (faculty/student exchange) with at least three internationally recognized universities or research centers that are leaders in the field.

2.3. Objectives in the Field of Societal Contribution and Service

  • Service Delivery:

Through the department’s Application and Research Centers, to expand the scope of occupational therapy services offered to the local community and increase the number of service beneficiaries annually by a specified percentage.

  • Awareness:

To organize at least one social responsibility project, seminar, or workshop per year aimed at increasing public awareness, ensuring participation from external stakeholders.

  • Lifelong Learning:

To enhance the professional development of graduates and field practitioners by offering continuing education programs (courses/certificates), thereby strengthening the department’s connection with the professional field.
