Objectives and Goals
The Audiometry Program at İzmir Tınaztepe University aims to educate well-equipped healthcare technicians who are competent in assessing and monitoring hearing and balance functions, and who can effectively participate in the rehabilitation processes of individuals with hearing loss. The program emphasizes ethical responsibility, professional competence, and the ability to stay current with scientific and technological advancements.
Furthermore, the program seeks to contribute to the improvement of public hearing health by fostering individuals who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of healthcare services with a strong sense of social responsibility.
Knowing the concepts of professional ethics and morality
Being aware of professional authority and responsibilities
Understanding the physics of sound and acoustic properties to plan the necessary steps in hearing assessment
Being able to recognize normal and pathological anatomical structures
Having the practical skills to apply tests used in hearing evaluation
Understanding how diseases of the outer, middle, and inner ear affect the test results
Knowing audiological emergency cases
Learning how hearing rehabilitation is performed and having sufficient knowledge about the appropriate selection of hearing aids for patients
Having the ability to approach balance disorders and perform the necessary tests
Understanding the relationship between central and peripheral diseases and audiological tests
Grasping the importance of early diagnosis and treatment in hearing loss occurring during childhood
Being able to perform tests used in newborn hearing screening
