
Established within the mission of Izmir Tınaztepe University to contribute to universal science and support the development of technologies needed in Türkiye’s healthcare sector, the Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Coordination Office carries out activities to enhance awareness and culture of R&D, innovation and entrepreneurship across our institution.
Our mission, aligned with the Research and Development Policy of Izmir Tınaztepe University, is to develop and implement contemporary research policies that strengthen the national and international R&D and innovation ecosystem within our university. IZTU-AYGK adopts an approach based on ethical values, sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in all research activities. In this context, ensuring that projects carried out, primarily in the fields of health and life sciences, contribute to societal benefit and supporting young researchers are among our core strategic priorities.
Accordingly, supporting ethical, innovative and sustainable research, especially in health and life sciences; empowering multidisciplinary research teams; and increasing knowledge production through national and international collaborations constitute the foundation of our mission. The Coordination Office aims to establish a research ecosystem that promotes the development of young researchers, focuses on societal benefit, and transforms research outcomes into economic and social value.
Our vision is to strengthen the scientific and technological project portfolio of our university’s faculty members, researchers, students and entrepreneurs by increasing access to national and international external funding sources. IZTU-AYGK envisions building an innovative university model with strong research capacity and international visibility through continuous enhancement of Izmir Tınaztepe University’s research infrastructure.
Long-term goals include accelerating the transformation of scientific knowledge into societal benefit by actively contributing to university–industry collaboration, effective management of intellectual property, and patenting and commercialization processes.
In this framework, the ultimate goals and responsibilities of our Coordination Office are:
- Proposing new policies to conduct high-impact scientific and applied research addressing societal needs in strategic priority areas;
- Strengthening the infrastructure required for IZTU faculty members, researchers and entrepreneurs to access individual and interdisciplinary project funding; facilitating their participation in research support programs by delivering relevant training; and supporting collaboration with national and international funding bodies, universities, public and private institutions, R&D organizations, industry and business partners;
- Creating opportunities for associate, undergraduate and graduate students to participate in research projects aligned with their interests, enhance their creativity, and develop strong research skills;
- Organizing mentorship and training programs to increase the project development capacity of young researchers and students, and delivering research culture trainings within the university;
- Promoting practices based on ethical principles, academic integrity and transparency in all research activities;
- Continuously strengthening the university’s research infrastructure and improving its accessibility;
- Regulating and coordinating the functioning of the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Commission;
- Supporting the establishment of a system that enables knowledge and technology transfer for the development of high-value products in the field of health, in addition to academic research;
- Regularly monitoring, evaluating and reporting the university’s research performance and integrating these data into strategic planning processes.
