Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who use their professional assessment and evaluation methods to plan and administer a physiotherapy and rehabilitation program based on what a healthy individual or an individual with a diagnosed disease might need.
The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation of İzmir Tınaztepe University Faculty of Health Sciences is an undergraduate degree program of 4 years that have been planned to this end. The department is intended to raise knowledgeable, skillful, investigative and modern physiotherapists who are open to life-long learning, innovation and up to speed on technological and scientific developments, as well as capable of practicing theoretical knowledge, administering the most appropriate assessment and treatment program, developing projects for social benefit while also adhering due importance to ethical values and respecting human rights. Students completing their studies successfully earn their undergraduate degree diploma and the title of physiotherapist.
İzmir Tınaztepe University is a student-oriented “health-themed” university. The department offers its students hands-on training and research opportunities at the four hospitals of Tınaztepe Health Group that admit high number of patients. The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is looking forward to welcoming prospective physiotherapists who will be professionally competent and ready for professional life after completing the education offered by the department’s team of knowledgeable scholars and practitioners and in a teaching setting where students can present their scientific projects.
Courses at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
Along with the basic science and profession-specific courses offered at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, there are also laboratory practices of the topics that require experimenting and skills. The courses offered include particularly Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Orthosis and Prosthesis, Sports Physiotherapy, Neurological Rehabilitation, as well as the subjects that will teach students the scientific basis such as Anatomy, Neuroanatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Physics, Pathology, Kinesiology and Biomechanics, and Ethical Principles in Rehabilitation.
Employment After Graduation:
They can work as physiotherapists at the healthcare institutions and hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, Healthcare Units of other public institutions, elderly care centers, sports clubs, thermal facilities, private education centers, private branch-specific healthcare centers, rehabilitation centers, and industrial institutions.
They can also work as consultants at fitness centers.
They can also specialize in Musculoskeletal Diseases, Orthopedic Diseases, Hand Rehabilitation, Neurological Diseases, Respiratory Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases, Oncological Diseases, Rheumatic Diseases, Men’s and Women’s Health, Pediatric Diseases, Geriatric Diseases, Athlete Health, Hearing and Speech, Public Health, Vestibular Rehabilitation, and Orthosis and Prosthesis.
