Medical Imaging Techniques
Early diagnosis and treatment of diseases is highly important for a healthy society. Medical imaging methods provide the most valuable data for early diagnosis and treatment. To make sure that medical imaging methods are used effectively in diagnoses, follow-up and planning, human resources that have been trained to accurately administer appropriate practices and methods are needed. İzmir Tınaztepe University has therefore started the Medical Imaging Technicians Program whose mission and vision is to raise quality human resources for healthcare services.
The Medical Imaging Technicians Program that was opened within İzmir Tınaztepe University Vocational School of Healthcare Services is a 2-year associate degree program initiated to this end. The program is intended to train knowledgeable skillful radiology technicians capable of preparing and positioning patients for examination on medical imaging devices such as conventional and digital x-ray, fluoroscopy, computerized tomography, mammography, gamma camera, PET-CT and ultrasonography, preparing images for use, and checking and maintaining radiotherapy techniques, devices, and equipment.
İzmir Tınaztepe University is a student-oriented “health-themed” university. The department offers its students hands-on training and research opportunities at the four hospitals of Tınaztepe Health Group that admit high number of patients. The Medical Imaging Technicians Program aims at raising professionally competent technicians ready for professional life together with its team of knowledgeable trainers and practitioners and in a teaching setting where students can present their scientific projects.
Employment After Graduation:
Students complete professional practices and internships required by the program and earn their associate degree diploma along with the title of “Medical Imaging Technician”.
There are a wide variety of employment opportunities for this profession in the healthcare sector. They can work in units dealing with direct x-ray scan requests made for diagnosis, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance, Mammography, Angiography, Scintigraphy, Positron Emission Tomography, Ultrasonography and in charge of preparation and administration of the devices for patients on radiotherapy, as well as in various units of Nuclear Medicine.
Graduates of the Department of Medical Imaging Techniques can work in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy departments of state, university, private hospitals, private healthcare centers, and private medical imaging centers.
Departments for External Transfer:
Students graduating from our program can have their external transfer for the Department of Nursing completed to earn an undergraduate degree.
