Department of Orthodontics

Department of Orthodontics deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of crowding in the teeth and developmental disorders of the jaws and face. With orthodontic treatment, it is aimed to provide a healthy occlusion and to enhance the facial and smile aesthetics by aligning the teeth and correcting the positions of jaws via appliances and brackets.

The scope of the department of orthodontics involves growth and development, eruption guidance, functional anomalies and treatments, fixed treatments, removable plaque treatments, extraoral treatments, orthognathic surgeries, cleft lip and palate. Orthodontic education at undergraduate level starts with theoretical courses and laboratory studies in the 3rd year and continues with clinical applications in the 4th and 5th years of education.
