Admissions of international students interested in studying an associate or undergraduate degree program at our university are subject to the quotas and scoring requirements set by the University Senate.    

The minimum GPA from high school or its equivalent for application is 80/100 for the medical faculty and 60/100 for other departments/programs.

Applicants can submit their applications with their diplomas from the high school or an equivalent school that they graduated and with the type of diploma/exit exam/university entrance exam score statement listed in the table below if they have already earned their degree. Those who have yet to earn their degree can submit their applications with the relevant statement of their educational status.

Of the applicants who do not hold the type of diploma/exit exam/university entrance exam score statement, those that have already earned their degree can submit their applications with their high-school diploma or an equivalent diploma stating their grade point average.

The below-mentioned criteria are cited from the regulations of the Council of Higher Education.

Eligibility for application:

On condition of studying the senior year at high school or having already graduated;

  1. Those of foreign nationality,
  2. Those of Turkish nationality by birth who were granted the permission to renounce their Turkish citizenship, and those who document that their minor children registered on the statement of Turkish citizenship renouncement hold the Statement on Enjoying the Rights Granted as per the Turkish Citizenship Law,  (Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 Article 7 states, “(1) A child born to a Turkish mother or through a Turkish father within the unity of marriage either in Turkey or abroad is a Turkish citizen.” It is therefore recommended that international applicants should check out the Turkish Citizenship Law.)
  3. Those who obtain Turkish citizenship by renouncing their foreign nationality / such individuals with dual citizenship:

a) Of students of Turkish nationality who studied secondary school abroad before 01/02/2013, those who completed the last three years of their secondary education (high school) in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (including those completing their whole secondary education (high school) at Turkish schools administered by the Ministry of National Education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus),

b) Of students who started secondary school abroad after 01/02/2013, those who completed their whole secondary education (high school) in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (including those completing the whole secondary education (high school) at Turkish schools administered by the Ministry of National Education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus),

  1. Those with TRNC citizenship who reside in the TRNC and have completed secondary education (high school) in the TRNC and hold an GCE AL exam score, as well as those who have enrolled in private high schools and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and who do or will hold an GCE AL exam score after completing their education at these schools are eligible to apply for quotas opened for international admissions.

Ineligibility for application:

  1. Those of Turkish nationality who completed the whole secondary education (high school) in Turkey or the TRNC,
  2. Those with TRNC citizenship (excluding students who completed the whole secondary education (high school) at high schools administered by the TRNC and hold an GCE AL exam score, as well as others who have enrolled in private high schools and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and who do or will hold an GCE AL exam score after completing their education at these schools),
  3. Those with dual nationality who are primarily of Turkish nationality by birth as described in the subparagraph 2 of the paragraph a (excluding individuals meeting the criteria mentioned in the subparagraph 4 of the paragraph a),
  4. Dual citizens with TRNC citizenship (excluding students who completed the whole secondary education (high school) at high schools administered by the TRNC and hold an GCE AL exam score, as well as others who have enrolled in private high schools and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and who do or will hold an GCE AL exam score after completing their education at these schools),
  5. Dual citizens of Turkish nationality or primarily of Turkish nationality by birth as described in the subparagraph 2 of the paragraph a who are studying at schools affiliated to embassies in Turkey and foreign high schools located in Turkey.

Application process and documents to be submitted

  1. Application form
  2. High school diploma if the applicant has already graduated, or statement of educational status if the applicant has yet to graduate,
  3. Transcript stating the courses that the applicant has taken in high school and the grades in these courses,
  4. Original version or a certified copy of the statement of exam result,
  5. A copy of the passport page that covers personal information,
  6. Equivalence Certificate that is granted by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education or the Turkish Embassy in the relevant country to prove that the applicant’s high school diploma is an equivalent of the diplomas earned at Turkish high schools,  
  7. Motivation letter,
  8. Applicants might be asked to confirm the information and documents that they have submitted at the time of application or the University might conduct an investigation to verify the information and documents submitted. In case of an infraction detected in the information and documents submitted by an applicant, the decision concerning the admission of the relevant applicant is revoked although the applicant has been admitted, the applicant’s registration is nullified although the enrollment process has been completed, and legal action is taken against the relevant individual.

Notification of Results

- An e-mail of preliminary admission is sent by the Registrar’s Office to inform about the decision made during the application review process and about the down-payment. One fifth of the tuition fee is paid as the down-payment. The amount of the down-payment is deducted from the annual tuition fee.  The down-payment that has already been made is returned only in the event of a visa denial. To complete the return of the down-payment, the visa denial in question should be proven with a valid statement.

- An official admission letter is sent to those who have made the down-payment, which is considered a sign of their interest in enrolling. The admission letter sent is also an official document that can also be used for visa application.

Documents Required for Enrollment

  1. Applicants who have been admitted should present themselves personally at the Registrar’s Office to submit the documents required by the University between the dates announced.
  2. Original versions of the documents submitted for application, of the translated documents, as well as the additional documents requested should all be submitted at enrollment.
  3. Original version of the interim certificate of graduation if the original version of the high school diploma or the high school diploma is not ready yet,
  4. Original version of the “Equivalence Certificate” granted by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education that proves the equivalence of the high school diploma to the diplomas earned at Turkish high schools,
  5. A copy of the passport page that has the picture and personal information of the student and the page where the student visa is present,
  6. 6 passport photos,
  7. Receipt stating that the tuition fee payment has been made,
  8. Original version of the national/international exam certificate submitted for application,
  9. Students who have applied for the programs taught in Turkish medium are required to document their proficiency in Turkish language. To start studying, students are required to score C1 and higher for undergraduate programs and B2 and higher for associate degree programs in the Turkish Proficiency Exam administered at International Students Testing centers that are accredited by TOMER, Yunus Emre Foundation and the Council of Higher Education.
  • If the enrollment documents are in any language other than Turkish or English, their certified translations into Turkish or English should also be submitted along with the copies of their original version.

Visa and Residence Permit Procedures

  1. After completing the enrollment process, students of foreign nationality should apply for residence permit to study within the first one month following their entrance to Turkey. A copy of the residence cards granted upon the application should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
  2. Students that have their residence permit granted for a city other than İzmir are obliged to make sure that their file is registered for İzmir. It is the sole responsibility of students to cover all the costs that may emerge and to make applications in a timely manner within the context of these procedures.
  3. Students who will apply for residence permit to study are required to have a valid healthcare insurance. It is the sole responsibility of students to take out a valid insurance. Information concerning healthcare insurance is accessible on the web page of İzmir Provincial Directorate of Migration or its office can be visited to ask for relevant information.
  4. The general instructions run by the public authorities concerning students of foreign nationality apply to the visa and residence permit documents required by the University.
  5. Those who hold a Blue Card are not required to apply for residence permit.
